HISTORY OF MINECRAFT
Minecraft is an open source game that was developed by the founder of Mojang AB, Markus Persson, and was inspired by some of the games such as Infiniminer, Dwarf Fortress or Dungeon Keeper. The game involves the player in the creation and destruction of different types of blocks in a three-dimensional environment by a character, with whom you can create fantastic structures and artistic creations along the different multiplayer servers in their different game modes.
Minecraft: Java Edition can be played in single or multiplayer mode by downloading the Minecraft executable. You can also play the demo for a limited time. Minecraft started development around May 10th 2009 and reservations for the entire game were made on June 13th 2009. It was officially released on November 18, 2011. On September 20, 2014, the Java edition, known as Java Edition, was proclaimed the number one selling game of all time, reaching 26 million on May 21, 2017.
On August 16, 2011, Minecraft: Pocket Edition, the first edition to use the code base in Bedrock Edition, was released for the Sony Xperia Play smartphone. After its exclusivity with Sony expired, it was released on all other Android devices on October 7, 2011, on iOS devices on November 17, on FireOS on September 13, 2012 and on Windows Phone 8.1 on December 10, 2014. Bedrock Edition was initially ported to non-mobile platforms, beginning with Windows 10 on July 29, 2015, followed by Samsung Gear VR on April 27, 2016 and Apple TV and Fire TV on December 19, 2016. Minecraft arrived on December 1, 2016 : Pocket-sized edition 40 million sales That same month, on the 19th of the month, the Pocket Edition upgrade for Windows Phone was discontinued. It was replaced by Windows 10 Mobile on February 22, 2017.
On May 9, 2012, Minecraft for Xbox 360 was released on Xbox Live Arcade for £20, where it broke sales records. This edition of Minecraft was the code base for the popular Legacy Console Edition. This was followed by PlayStation 3 on 17 December 2013, PlayStation 4 on 4 September 2014, Xbox One on 5 September 2014, PlayStation Vita on 14 October 2014, Wii U on 17 December 2015 and Nintendo Switch on 11 May 2017.
Minecraft: Pi Edition was released on Raspberry on February 11, 2013. Pi.Pi Edition was created to be an educational aid for novice programmers and for those users who want to modify Minecraft’s internal code and API. This edition is no longer updated and is officially abandoned.
On September 15, 2014, Microsoft purchased Mojang AB and its products (including Minecraft) for $2.5 billion.
By February 27, 2017, Minecraft had sold 122 million copies on all its platforms, making it the second best-selling game and the ninth best-selling video game series of all time.
Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition was launched on September 13, 2017 for the new Nintendo 3DS and the new Nintendo 3DS XL, as well as for the new Nintendo 2DS XL.
On September 18, 2017, the original version of Minecraft was renamed Minecraft: Java Edition. Shortly after that, on September 20th 2017, the Better Together update for Bedrock Edition was released for Android, iOS, Fire OS, Windows 10, Samsung Gear Vr and Fire TV. Pocket Edition, Windows 10 Edition, Gear VR Edition, and Fire Tv Edition have been merged under the title Minecraft, and the Xbox One version has been discontinued and replaced with an adaptation to the Bedrock Edition platform.
